The role is to commence as soon as possible and is being advertised as a permanent appointment. The Hospital The hospital within this health service, located 80 mins north of Sydney has received funding to open an urgent care centre (UCC) to assist its busy emergency department in addressing the large number of lower acuity patients that present to the facility.   The UCC will be co-located with the emergency department, with patients being triaged from a common entry point to either the current ED or the new UCC. The UCC patients will be low acuity patients with expected quick turnover and low dependency on pathology testing and observation periods. On a normal day in the UCC you could expect to see the following presentations:   Sore throat, earache, toothache, minor lacerations, undisplaced fractures, uncomplicated infections, soft tissue injuries and headache. You will be supported another one of Sydney's busiest ED departments 20km down the road within the same Area Health Service. The hospital is the major regional trauma hospital for the Central Coast and sees an interesting mix of patients including a significant amount of trauma and paediatrics. Both emergency departments have longstanding specialty training programs and as a result patients are fully worked up in the emergency department before being transferred to inpatient teams.    == The Location == The Central Coast offers an abundance of attractions and activities for families, short breaks away, day trips or just for some time out to relax. From swimming to shopping, golf to gardens, hiking to horse riding with koalas and kangaroos the Central Coast will delight you with a range of memorable experiences.   The region is home to national parks, forests and reserves protecting native wilderness, Aboriginal heritage and the pristine waterways. Many of the activities on the Central Coast can be enjoyed within these preserved areas allowing visitors to explore the national parks and experience the sheer beauty of this spectacular coastal and hinterland region.   To be eligible for this role you must: -   * Be willing to commit to a 12 month fixed term contract * Be available to commence within four months time * Hold General registration with AHPRA ? this is necessary as you will be often the sole doctor working on the floor at any given time. * Have a minimum of 1 year recent experience in Emergency medicine  Why Wavelength?
