Shifts are either 8am ? 6.30pm or 12.30pm ? 11pm (including ½ hour lunch/dinner breaks). SMOs are not required to work on call. You will be working with a FACEM and supported by 4 or 5 junior/registrar doctors on each shift. Pay rate will be between $1700 and $1950 per day depending on your experience and qualifications. Accommodation and flights are provided. The hospital is affiliated with the University of Queensland and has 311 beds. All major specialties are represented apart from neurosurgery and cardiac surgery. The emergency department sees 35,000 patients each year and also receives patients from a helicopter critical care transport service. There are seven operating theatres, one of which is equipped and staffed to run 24/7. == The Location == This is an ideal location for someone who enjoys the outdoors.
