As an experienced Intensivist you will provide clinical management of ICU patients including coordination with other specialty groups. In addition you will participate with other ICU staff and visiting specialists to provide a seamless on call service and be involved in the teaching and performance management of ICU medical staff. There will be 24/7 Registrar cover in the Unit. You will have demonstrated extensive experience in ICU in a hospital setting and a commitment to clinical teaching. The Hospital You will be working in the biggest hospital and health care complex in regional Western Australia. The campus you will be working in is combined of a public and private sector. It provides all major medical specialties including general and respiratory medicine; general, orthopaedic, urological, otolaryngological and hand surgery; paediatrics; obstetrics/gynaecology; radiology; ophthalmology and psychiatry. In addition, there are on-site services for oncology; dialysis and palliative care. Currently the hospital is undertaking a major redevelopment of their critical care facilities. This is designed to provide ICU services, an expansion in the capacity of the emergency department and a new short stay unit. From January 2011 the hospital will commence a Level 1 ICU service which would include four ventilated beds. The hospital hopes to achieve a level 2 ICU status in 2014/2015. == The Location == You will be living in the second largest city in Western Australia which is approximately a two hour drive south of Perth.
