Health care is provided through this Hospital, the specialist regional base hospital in the area, and a network of community hospitals and services throughout the region. The Hospital is a specialized 600-bed tertiary referral hospital with all diagnostic and treatment facilities on one campus and a staff of approx 2,500. In addition, the service extends specialty services to other health providers beyond its own region, to a population of 700,000. The hospital services approximately 39,350 inpatients annually, 161,500 outpatients annually and approximately 3,000 births annually. It also provides a regional trauma centre.
