It has all sub-specialties except for neurosurgery and cardiac surgery. It is a teaching hospital that is associated with both Auckland and Otago Medical Schools. The hospital serves an urban population of 75,000 and has a catchment area of 161,000. == The Position ==: You will be working in a department that has been recently upgraded. Therefore you will have access to state of the art equipment that includes a 16 Slice CT, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, DSA, mammography, seven general radiography rooms and nuclear medicine with two gamma cameras. A fully functional RIS/PACS will be installed within the next 12-18 months as part of a regional group with the hospitals from the lower North Island. A private practice has an MRI on the hospital grounds that you are able to use. Your team will consist of three full time and two part-time radiologists, one nuclear medicine physician, two radiology registrars, 32.7 FTE medical radiation technologists and 15 clerical staff supporting these professional groups. The department encourages and supports you in having a close clinical interaction with your colleagues both within the hospital setting and the community. Therefore there is the opportunity for you to provide both private and public services, allowing you to have an attractive remuneration package. You will have an interesting and varied workload, with the department carrying out approximately 76,000 examinations per year. Whilst a generalist approach is valued, elements of subspecialisation are fostered within the working structure, such as the opportunity to work in breast screening. == The Location ==: The town you will call home is vibrant, youthful and is located on the North Island on New Zealand. It has an active student population due to the great education facilities in the area. The town has shopping to rival that found anywhere in New Zealand. It is only a short, two hour drive to Wellington and in the other direction are the famous wine growing regions of Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa.
