Wavelength GP Team Updates –
Welcome back Anna, Thank you Emma
This month we celebrate Anna’s return to the GP Locum team, and thank Emma for the wonderful contribution she’s made.
We’re delighted to share that Anna Mullins is rejoining the GP Locum team! If you’ve locumed with us before, chances are you already know Anna. She’s been part of Wavelength since 2006, spending most of her time on the GP desk with a particular focus on supporting Aboriginal Medical Services.
For the past two years, Anna has stepped away from work to care for her son, Teddy, while he underwent intensive leukaemia treatment. Recently, their family reached the incredible milestone of ringing the bell to mark the end of treatment and we couldn’t be happier to celebrate Teddy’s good health alongside Anna.
I caught up with Anna to hear how she’s feeling about returning to work, and to reflect on the past two years:
Anna, how does it feel to be back at Wavelength?
"It feels really good to be back. I’ve missed connecting with our doctors and clinics and being part of such a supportive team. Wavelength has always been such a positive workplace, and I’m excited to get back into doing what I love- helping the medical workforce and supporting doctors in their locum journeys.”
Can you share a little about your journey over the past two years?
"The past 2 years have been the most difficult time of our lives. Watching our two-year-old go through treatment for leukaemia has been heartbreaking and exhausting in ways I can hardly put into words. As a parent, I’ve had to face the fear of the unknown, endless hospital visits, sleepless nights, and the constant worry about every test result and the long-term side effects of the toxic chemotherapy was having on our boy. It took a huge emotional and physical toll on our entire family. This journey has been unimaginably hard, and it has changed us as a family. But it has also shown us resilience we didn’t know we had!"
Has your experience in hospital given you any fresh insights into the perspective of a medical professional?
"My experience in hospital while my child underwent treatment has given me fresh insights into the medical profession. Before this, I think I took for granted just how much dedication, patience, and emotional strength is required from doctors, nurses, and all the staff involved in care. Being on the receiving end of their work, I saw not only their medical expertise but also the compassion and humanity that goes into supporting families through the hardest of times. I have a huge respect for all healthcare professionals, and this has made me more motivated to support them in my role, because I’ve seen the difference they make every day."
We’d also like to take a moment to thank Emma Chadwick for the fantastic job she’s done stepping in during this time. Emma has been an absolute delight to work with - bringing dedication, genuine care, and a perfect fit with our team culture while supporting the wonderful doctors and clients we partner with.
