You'll play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality obstetric and gynaecological care to our patients. From the birthing suite to acute gynaecology consultations and antenatal/postnatal care, your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring the health and well-being of women throughout their pregnancy journey. Your responsibilities will include attending morning handover at 0800hrs on all days rostered on call, conducting ward rounds of gynaecology, antenatal, and high-risk postnatal patients. While adherence to these duties is paramount, exceptions may be made if fatigue from overnight clinical work necessitates a later ward round. Compliance with NSW Health requirements, including timely consultant review of new admissions within 24 hours, is essential. Locums presenting for more than 4 days on-call will require a mandatory rest day for fatigue management. On weekdays, the locum on call is required to stay on site between the hours of 0800-1630. On weekends, after completing the morning ward round and any urgent clinical work, the locum may be offsite but must remain within 30 minutes of the hospital for the entire on-call duration. Maitland Hospital is currently performing over 2100 births per year, to accommodate this activity, inductions of labour are routinely scheduled 7 days a week. Theatre cover is available onsite 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and thus birth suite activity should not be deferred due to a lack of theatre cover after hours (although may be for other clinical reasons). Expect nothing less than high-level support from our dedicated team, ensuring seamless coordination and assistance throughout your clinical duties. You'll have access to 24/7 junior support and will be first on-call, providing you with the support you need to deliver exceptional patient care. Situated in the picturesque Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, Maitland offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and urban amenities. Explore nearby vineyards, scenic countryside, and charming local cafes and shops. With its close proximity to Newcastle and Sydney, Maitland provides easy access to urban conveniences while offering a relaxed lifestyle away from the hustle and bustle. | |||
