PRIMARY PURPOSE See all medical admissions and decide on their management including obtaining the services of specialist medical staff when necessary KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES • Provide clinical care of all medical patients on assigned ward ensuring ward rounds are completed, comprehensive medical records for each occasion of service are maintained and the review of all patients prior to discharge. • Discharge patients from assigned ward ensuring patient has appropriate prescriptions on discharge with patient discharge summaries being completed and returned to Medical Records. • Ensure the relevant consultant is aware of any admissions to assigned ward and of any deaths on the ward with consideration of the need for referral to Coroner. • Supervise the Medical Resident/Intern and act as clinical resource and teacher for medical students and junior doctors. • Provide on call shifts as rostered on HealthRoster. • Respond to MET calls. • Complete or assist as requested with the completion of legal and police reports on patients seen. • Attend educational and clinical audit activities organised by the Hospital and be prepared to participate in these and other quality programs. • Manage and develop people, inspire direction and purpose, optimise business outcomes, manage and reform change, and optimise rostering capability. The Position
This senior leadership opportunity combines clinical influence, strategic oversight and service development within a growing regional health service.
As Director Clinical Services – Mental Health, you will provide leadership across mental health and alcohol and other drug services, ensuring care is safe, contemporary and evidence based. Working alongside executive and operational leaders, you will help shape future service models, strengthen workforce capability and support the delivery of equitable care across a large and geographically diverse region.
The role offers a balance of clinical governance, workforce leadership, service planning and quality improvement, together with the opportunity to influence how mental health services are delivered across rural and remote communities. It is ideally suited to a psychiatrist who enjoys leading multidisciplinary teams, developing innovative models of care and driving meaningful change at both a strategic and operational level.
The package ranges from approximately $425,000 to $539,000+, depending on experience and qualifications, and includes relocation assistance, regional incentives, accommodation and travel support, professional development leave, and a range of additional employment benefits.

Essential Criteria
Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) or equivalent specialist qualification
Specialist Registration with AHPRA, or eligibility for specialist registration in Australia
Experience in general adult psychiatry and alcohol and other drug services
Demonstrated leadership experience within multidisciplinary mental health settings
Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and workforce development capabilities
Understanding of the delivery of services to rural, remote, Indigenous and multicultural communities
