| Conditions: | This Urgent Care Centre is seeking ongoing locum cover, with up to 2 locum GP's across each weekday shift. The hours are Monday –Friday 10am–6pm paying $1800 per day and then weekends/public holidays from12pm –4pm paying $1500 per day. There is a diverse patient base including Indigenous and non-Indigenous patients, mostly Cat 4 & 5, and with approximately 4 patients per hour. Ideally you will be competent with suturing/gluing and holding the ALS certificate is desirable. You will work within an experienced, welcoming team including another GP weekdays (whilst sole GP on the weekends which is an optional shift), plus nurses and admin support. In terms of equipment, they do provide auroscopes and ophthalmoscopes however they do not store dermatoscopes. You will be based across 3 sites within the Kutjungka region of Northeast region of the Kimberley. With a daily rate of $2100 per paid, you will be on call for the duration of this locum. The Nurses are responsible for first on call with the GP being called for advice on the phone or if appropriate, in person, however this is rare. Clinical services at Balgo Health Centre, a comprehensive Primary Health Care Service, have been provided by KAMS since 2006. The Visionflex telehealth system is available that assists when a face-to-face consultation is unavailable and the RFDS provide retrieval support if required. If you have suitable 4WD training, you will be able to drive yourself to outreach sites (Mulan and Billiluna) however if not a member of staff will drive you to each clinic. These are day visits and as such you will return to Balgo each day where you will stay. Accommodation is self-contained, has aircon, satellite tv and internet is available, although can be patchy. Balgo (Wirrimanu) is one of Australian’s most remote Aboriginal communities located in the south-east Kimberley region of Western Australia on the northern edge of the Great Sandy Desert and on the western edge of the Tanami Desert. The Community is approximately 1100km east of Broome and 250km south of Halls Creek with a population of approximately 400-500. Balgo has a thriving art scene with internationally renowned art provided in this community. | |||

Provide comprehensive assessment of the neonate prior to discharge including documentation in eMR and personal health record as needed. Provide assessments for inductions of labour as scheduled. Provide antenatal and postnatal outpatient clinic services as scheduled. Document daily ward rounds, complete discharge summaries and review obstetrics, gynaecology and neonatal patients admitted or presenting to the maternity ward or emergency as requested. Complete contemporaneous and comprehensive clinical documentation in eMR and eMaternity. Provide and lead clinical review, rapid response, obstetric emergencies and neonatal resuscitation for maternity and neonatal patients across the facility. Check pathology and radiology results in the maternity results message centre ordered by any doctor, follow-up and document management plans for any results needed further action and review any patients returning for follow-up of results. Provide medical support for the Lachlan MAPPS and MGP midwifery models of care. Participate in the training and supervision of students, junior medical officers and registrars. Participate in maternity team meetings, morbidity and mortality meetings, MDT meetings and other clinical meetings as requested. | |||
