Dr Humera Aaqib’s journey from Pakistan to Australia is one of challenge and change.

When she arrived in Perth, she quickly learned how important it was to be independent. Back in Pakistan, she had a lot of family support and never had to face things alone. But Australia brought a new sense of freedom.

Balancing medicine with a passion for photography

Beyond her medical career, Dr Humera has a deep love for photography. This creative hobby started small but quickly became a vital way for her to express herself and relax. Homeyra's interest in photography sparked from her love of capturing nature's beauty around her. Over time, she got better at it through online courses and practice, making photography a big part of her life.

“I landed my first job in Australia as a doctor in 2017. So with that money, obviously, I treated myself with a new camera and lens - And every three or six months, I would treat myself with a lens.”

Future dreams and aspirations

Looking ahead, Dr Humera sees a rewarding career in General Practice. While finishing her exams is a main goal, she also hopes to help the medical community in other ways. She believes sharing her knowledge and experiences with new doctors can make a real difference. Plus, she plans to keep up her photography, using it to tell stories and raise awareness about important health and social issues.
