Inpatient Role – Acute Care Team

Step into a key role within a dedicated general adult inpatient unit. You'll provide specialist care to adults presenting with acute mental health needs, including psychosis, mood disorders, and complex crises. Working alongside another Consultant Psychiatrist, you’ll offer clinical leadership and supervision to a team of four junior doctors, ensuring high-quality, person-centred care in a well-supported environment designed for recovery.

Community Role – Continuity, Collaboration, Recovery

Prefer to work in a community setting? Join the community mental health team where you’ll manage a broad spectrum of adult presentations, from acute to chronic mental illness, including trauma-related conditions and co-morbidity. You'll work closely with a multidisciplinary team and a fellow Consultant Psychiatrist, providing clinical oversight and contributing to a collaborative model of care focused on long-term outcomes and recovery.

The Hospital

Coffs Harbour Health Campus delivers comprehensive, recovery-focused mental health services across both inpatient and community settings. The Acute Mental Health Unit features a modern 30-bed facility supporting adults in crisis, while the Community Mental Health Team provides ongoing outpatient care, including specialised services for older adults, youth, and Aboriginal communities. With strong multidisciplinary collaboration, dedicated junior medical support, and growing investment in mental health initiatives, this is an ideal setting for Consultant Psychiatrists seeking to lead meaningful, patient-centred care in a region that genuinely values mental health.

Essential Criteria 

Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia via the Specialist Pathway (Substantially Comparable) or Expedited Specialist Pathway.
