Armidale Community Health Team - Review and monitor mental health consumers referred for psychiatric assessment by the Acute Care Team (ACT), as well as any care-coordinated consumers who require psychiatry input
The role is primarily providing psychiatry registrar cover for the Armidale Community Continuing Care Team. This involves seeing a manageable caseload of patients for psychiatric assessments and follow-up, with patients generally already case-managed by the team. There may also be occasional clozapine reviews. There is a small additional component of reviewing patients admitted to the general hospital who are awaiting transfer to a mental health unit, as well as providing occasional psychiatric consultation to Armidale Rural Referral Hospital. The registrar will be well supported and work closely with the supervising consultant psychiatrist, the voluntary inpatient unit registrar and the clinical coordinator. There is good opportunity to discuss cases and seek senior input as needed. Overall, it is a relatively contained role within a supportive team, with a mix of community work and some hospital-based consultation.
