Geriatric Evaluation and Management Hospital in the Home (GEMHITH) SRMO Locum – Lismore Base Hospital
An exciting opportunity exists for a PGY3 or above doctor to join the GEMHITH team at Lismore Base Hospital. This is a Monday to Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm position with no after-hours, on-call or weekend commitments.
The role includes identifying and assessing patient suitability for GEMHITH (as required). conducting comprehensive geriatric assessments on inpatients entering the GEMHITH service, conducting home visits, medical assessments, participating in multidisciplinary team meetings, prescribing medications, following up pathology and imaging results, and coordinating care with a multidisciplinary team to support patients receiving geriatric hospital-level care in their own homes. There may be opportunities for the applicant to assist in Geriatric outpatient clinics and supporting the Community Geriatric Service on occasions.
The successful applicant will work under the supervision of a supportive Staff Specialist Geriatrician, and form part of the greater Richmond Geriatric Team, providing an excellent opportunity to develop skills in geriatric medicine. Previous Geriatric Medicine experience is highly regarded but not essential.
There is a possibility of commencing earlier (19 October) if interested.
