The practice offers a balanced schedule, operating Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm and Saturdays from 9am to 12pm, ensuring a mix of professional fulfilment and personal time.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced GPs with over 10 years of practice or motivated recent fellows looking to build their careers in a reputable practice. The ideal candidate will be a committed and caring unrestricted VR GP who values long-term patient relationships and comprehensive care.

GPs holding Specialist Registration with AHPRA are eligible for this role.

The Practice

Due to a long-term doctor retiring, this private billing clinic is looking for a GP to take over the established patient list and be part of a team that provides high quality healthcare. The practice is well set up featuring 18 consulting rooms and two procedure rooms. The existing team of 15 other doctors, 14 GPs and an O&G specialist, are fully booked, with the majority having their books closed.

The practice provides their GPs with personal assistants, full-time nurse support, a practice manager and reception and admin staff and is very supportive of special interests.

The practice is happy to provide Permanent Residency visa sponsorship and relocation assistance and in addition to the usual billings also offers a rewards programme for their doctors.

Practice opening hours are 8:30am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday and 8:30am to 12:30pm Saturday mornings which are shared on a non-onerous roster of one in eight, so each doctor covers one Saturday morning every two months or so. For GPs who would like to boost their billings with a little after-hours work, the practice can offer the option to work on Wednesday evening 6pm to 8:30pm.

Opening hours are currently 8:30am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 8:30am to 12:30pm on Saturdays, with the Saturday mornings shared between the GPs. The practice is exploring extending their opening hours to 9pm during the week, offering more options for flexible working hours and added opportunities to bill after-hours Medicare item numbers.

The Position

We are seeking an experienced Urologist to take on the role of Clinical Director, providing both clinical leadership and high-quality specialist care within a busy and evolving service.

This position combines hands-on clinical work with strategic oversight, including leadership of multidisciplinary teams, workforce management, and the delivery of safe, contemporary urology services across inpatient, outpatient and outreach settings. You will play a key role in managing complex cases, guiding service development, and fostering a strong culture of clinical governance, safety and continuous improvement.

The role also offers significant involvement in education, training and research, supporting junior medical staff and contributing to the development of future specialists. There is scope to further expand advanced services, including robotic-assisted surgery and kidney transplantation, within a forward-looking department. 

The Hospital

This major tertiary referral center serving North Queensland, with over 600 beds and a comprehensive range of medical and surgical specialties. The facility includes intensive care, interventional radiology, oncology services and advanced surgical capabilities.

The Urology Department manages a high procedural volume, performing over 600 operations and 500 outpatient procedures annually, supported by a dedicated team of consultants, trainees and junior doctors. The service is well-equipped for both open and laparoscopic surgery and is expanding into robotic and transplant services.

• MBBS or equivalent, with Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
• Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in Urology
• Proven leadership, management and service development experience in a hospital setting.

You will provide specialist urology services across inpatient, outpatient and operative settings, managing both elective and emergency presentations.
