The Opportunity
This position offers the chance to shape the future of a high-acuity cardiology service across two major hospital sites, working in a state-of-the-art environment with a comprehensive interventional and electrophysiology program, advanced diagnostics, and a strong commitment to research, teaching, and innovation.
You will lead a complex, multidisciplinary cardiology service spanning:
- Interventional cardiology including PCI and structural heart programs (including TAVI)
- Electrophysiology, ablation, and cardiac device implantation
- Advanced cardiac diagnostics and imaging
- Acute, ambulatory, and rehabilitation services
This is a role with genuine scope to influence service design, performance, and long-term strategy across a growing health system.
The Role
This is a Senior Staff Specialist position with Unit Director responsibilities, combining:
- Clinical practice (~60%)
- Leadership, governance, and management (~40%)
You will work closely with executive and clinical leadership to drive performance, strengthen integration across sites, and position the service for future growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership across cardiology services
- Lead clinical governance, quality, and safety frameworks
- Drive service improvement, redesign, and performance outcomes
- Lead workforce planning, recruitment, and team development
- Support RACP training, accreditation, and education programs
- Contribute to budget planning and operational management
- Engage and influence stakeholders across multidisciplinary and executive teams
About You
You are a proven clinical leader who combines technical credibility with strong interpersonal and leadership capability.
You will bring:
- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP)
- Specialist registration in Cardiology
- Current AHPRA registration with no conditions
- Experience in medical leadership within a tertiary hospital setting
- Strong understanding of NSQHS standards and clinical governance frameworks
- Ability to lead teams, improve performance, and influence service outcomes
- High level of emotional intelligence
- Ability to build trust, lead with empathy, and align stakeholders

The Practice
A boutique group of GP-owned-and-run practices are offering new opportunities to GPs to join their team and start practicing quality medicine. If you are committed to going above and beyond and are passionate about healthcare, this could be the perfect role for you. You will be joining a team of like-minded and supportive doctors that will ensure you are well supported and will help make you feel at home in no time.
The practices are situated in various locations across Perth, some with replacement DPA roles. The majority of clinics are AGPAL accredited teaching practices and all are equipped with modern, state-of-the-art facilities that are architecturally designed and laid out to doctors’ specifications. The majority of clinics are mixed billing with walk-ins being billed privately. You will join a team of friendly and experienced GPs who will help you feel at home in no time. Not only will you have access to well-equipped facilities, you will be fully supported by full-time nursing and administrative staff. Your daily admin tasks will be taken care of, allowing you to draw focus on your patients and their needs.
With varied opening hours ranging from 7am to 7pm Monday to Friday as well as weekend hours and rosters available as desired, working hours are flexible to suit your needs and achieve work-life balance. Wavelength has been delighted to assist 6 GPs with joining this lovely and supportive group of practices and the feedback has been excellent across the board.
This group of clinics is currently running a unique collaboration with one of Perth’s hospitals, a WA-first, that sees hospital specialists partnering with the clinics and seeing patients on site as well as providing one-to-one training to GPs in areas such as dermatology and surgery – a terrific opportunity to expand your skills and increase your earning potential at the same time!
Well-versed in assisting internationally trained GPs move and settle in to Australia and new GPs gain experience, you can be assured you will be supported at every stage when joining this GP-owned and run, local group of practices.

DPA position and visa sponsorship are available. RACGP PEP-Specialist Pathway eligible international candidates (substantially comparable) and GPs holding Specialist Registration with AHPRA are eligible for this role.
