The Practice
This well-established, AGPAL-accredited service is recognised for its commitment to improving healthcare access and outcomes for culturally and linguistically diverse communities. Due to strong patient demand, an opportunity exists for an additional GP to join a busy and highly supportive multidisciplinary team.
The practice currently has three GPs part-time GPs, with significant need for additional medical practitioners. The clinic offers comprehensive primary healthcare services with a strong focus on preventive health, chronic disease management, mental health, women's health and refugee health. GPs work alongside a multidisciplinary team that includes a full-time Registered Nurse, three allied health practitioners, seven mental health practitioners, care coordinators, interpreters and dedicated administrative support, with an on-site pathology collection service providing added convenience for patients. This integrated model of care enables clinicians to deliver holistic, patient-centred healthcare while making a meaningful impact within the community.
GPs benefit from a collaborative environment with standard 30-minute face-to-face consultations and 15-minute telehealth appointments, ensuring sufficient time to provide thorough, patient-centred care. Doctors typically see around 15 patients per day, allowing them to build meaningful relationships and deliver quality healthcare outcomes. Opening hours are 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday, with no evening or weekend commitments required, offering excellent work-life balance.

Become familiar with the current pathways used such as chest pain, sepsis, COPD plan and cardiac Failure plan. Must return to the ED when requested by nursing staff at any time. Complete discharge summaries and review admitted patients as requested. Complete contemporaneous and comprehensive clinical documentation in all systems including discharges in eMR/eMeds. Medication reconciliation, charting process, MEMI stock, virtual clinical pharmacy involvement. Check pathology and radiology results in the ED results message centre ordered by any doctor, follow-up and document management plans for any results needed further action and review any patients returning for follow-up of results. Participate in morbidity and mortality meetings, MDT meetings and other clinical meetings as requested. Required to participate in Multidisciplinary Team Meeting on Monday morning at the Hospital. Handover at the end of your contract. On Call Requirements • You will be the sole Doctor on call 24/7. • You as the Locum Doctor will be called in for all triage categories (1s to 5s) in-person between 0800 hrs and 1800 hrs, • Overnight from 1800 hrs to 0800 hrs the locum doctor will be required to review Category 1 and 2 ED Presentations in-person. • Overnight from 1800 hrs until 0800 hrs VRGS will cover Category 3, 4 and 5 ED Presentations, however you will be required to attend if a clinician or the Registered Nurse calls you requesting your presence. • On-call will also require you at all times to attend any inpatients that are deteriorating. • vCare are available in emergency situations (1800 492 227) to assist with support and escalation of a Patient within the facility that requires Emergency assistance, transfer to tertiary facility, advice from specialist teams, emergency birth assistance, Paediatric specialist care, Trauma and Burn specialist support. Fatigue breaks Fatigue breaks are available if Doctor has an emergency, busy night/day and is feeling fatigued, however this must be discussed prior to taking any break with the Health Service Manager or ‘In charge’. Support is available via VRGS to provide doctor fatigue break if required.
