As a GP Anaesthetist or Anaesthetic Specialist VMO at Inverell Hospital, you'll play a crucial role in providing anaesthesia services to patients undergoing surgery and obstetric procedures. You must be able to work unsupervised and handle all aspects of anaesthesia care. All shifts are 24 hours from 0800 to 0800, with flexibility to accommodate travel needs. The role involves scheduled theatre lists during the day and being on call overnight (Required to provide airway support in Emergency Department as needed whilst on-call). GP Anaesthetists will assist with elective lists, emergency cases, and obstetrics. Plus, locums presenting for more than 7 days on-call will require 2 mandatory rest days for fatigue management. The Practice
As one of their doctors moves away from general practice into hospital work, a position has become vacant for a VR GP to join the team at this AGPAL accredited practice located in a north-western suburb of Canberra. This practice prides itself on providing the local community with access to quality care and developing lasting relationships with their patients.
You will be joining six doctors that support one another in reaching their full potential and ensuring patients receive state-of-the-art healthcare. | Conditions: | Qualifications/Experience • Emergency, Trauma, Adult and Paediatric Support • Basic Life Support • Simple Suturing • ECG Interpretation • Catheterisation • Sound Clinical Judgement • Communicate appropriately • Medicare Provider number requirements: Full billing or refer and request billing rights acceptable • Must have completed eMeds training Duties • Expectation that you review all cases in-person throughout the day. • Hours required to be on-site will be 8am ward rounds, followed by ED reviews etc - finish time to be negotiated with site. • Must return to the ED when requested by nursing staff at any time. • Complete discharge summaries and review admitted patients as requested. • Complete contemporaneous and comprehensive clinical documentation in all systems including discharges in eMR/eMeds. • Check pathology and radiology results in the ED results message centre ordered by any doctor, follow-up and document management plans for any results needed further action and review any patients returning for follow-up of results. • Participate in morbidity and mortality meetings, MDT meetings and other clinical meetings as requested. • Required to participate in Multidisciplinary Team Meeting on Monday morning at the Hospital. On Call Requirements • You will be the sole Doctor on call 24/7. • You as the Locum Doctor will be called in for all triage categories (1s to 5s) in-person between 0800 hrs and 2000 hrs. • Overnight from 2000 hrs until 0800 hrs the locum doctor will be required to review all Category 1, 2 and 3 ED Presentations in-person. • Overnight from 2000 hrs until 0800 hrs you will be responsible for Category 4 and 5 ED Presentations, an in-person review will be at your discretion. However you will be required to attend if a clinician or the Registered Nurse calls you requesting your presence. • On-call will also require you at all times to attend inpatients that are deteriorating. • vCare are available in emergency situations (1800 492 227) to assist with support and escalation of a Patient within the facility that requires Emergency assistance, transfer to tertiary facility, advice from specialist teams, emergency birth assistance, Paediatric specialist care, Trauma and Burn specialist support. | |||
