== The Position == As Consultant General Surgeon you will be joining a team of 8 multi-skilled general surgeons full of passion in a hospital where ongoing education is encouraged and supported. You will be involved in regular multi-disciplinary meetings with all surgeons across the board which allows for a close collegial working environment. As part of your role you will be required to take part in the 1:8 on call roster. The Hospital The hospital provides secondary care services to the North Island in New Zealand.  The general surgery team provide the main surgical services in addition outpatient services at three other regional hospitals on a rotational basis == The Location == The area spans across 12,600 square kilometres with a population of approximately 170,000. It boasts some of the most scenic and exciting coastal areas of New Zealand in a subtropical climate. Popular water recreation areas are a stone throw away with scenic views the entire trip. There are a large number of childcare facilities options for younger children and a broad option of primary and high schools for older children. Real estate in this city is healthy and offers affordable prices for purchase and rent. == Essential Criteria == To be successful in applying for this position, you must hold registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand and be qualified to practice as a specialist Surgeon or hold Australian Fellowship (FRACS).
