One facility is currently undergoing a $60 million redevelopment, with completion expected in 2018. It will deliver a new four-storey building adjoining the existing hospital, including a new emergency department, inpatient ward, four operating theatres and a critical care unit. The hospital services a local population of 40,000 people and the 24-hour emergency department is equipped with 11 beds and sees 18- 20,000 presentations per year of which 10- 15% of the case are paediatric.
