== The Position == and the Hospital In this role, you will provide clinical management and treatment in the field of general medicine for inpatients and outpatients at a 64-bed acute care hospital. The hospital provides general surgery, general medicine, obstetric, paediatric, oncology, renal dialysis, high dependency care and emergency services. The catchment population is one of the fastest growing ageing populations in Australia. The hospital is supported by Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) specialists and VMO GPs who share the on-call. On-site services include radiology, pathology and emergency surgery. This role can be designed to suit you with the opportunity to work in a VMO capacity alongside the option to develop a private practice in the area. There is scope to develop your own special interest; any sub-specialty may be accommodated. A dually trained physician in General Medicine and Endocrinology or Oncology would be highly desirable. == The Location == A four-hour drive from Sydney and 2 hours from Canberra, this country town offers an easy, relaxed lifestyle far removed from the pace of city life. Situated on the banks of a river, 10 km?s inland from the coast, it's a great base for exploring the surrounding coastline with its bays, beaches and headlands. The town is the commercial centre of the shire home to the council offices and other public institutions, such as the local TAFE and a variety of restaurants, cafes and shops. There are affordable housing options in the region with a 3 bedroom house costing approx. $300,000 to buy and $330 a week to rent. If you enjoy the outdoors, there are national parks, reserves and wilderness areas with abundant wildlife; you'll also enjoy a great surfing beach which is patrolled in summer. The town hosts country markets and is renowned for its annual Jazz Festival and annual rodeo, which really gives a taste of country living in rural Australia. You can fly directly to the town from both Sydney and Melbourne. == Essential Criteria == To be successful in applying for this position you must hold FRACP or be close to obtaining your fellowship and be eligible for registration with AHPRA.
