The Position
Wavelength has an opportunity for a Staff Specialist in Otolaryngology to join a large health service in Central Queensland. Working closely with the Director of Surgery, every day will remain interesting as you enjoy using the full range of your clinical experience and skills across a broad variety of procedures. You will benefit from a competitive remuneration package and the opportunity to provide high quality medical care using the breadth of your knowledge. Additionally, you will have an interest in sharing your knowledge, facilitating training and supervision of surgical trainees, colleagues and other allied health stakeholders. You will also participate in teaching of tertiary students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The Hospital  
This state of the art hospital offers a wide range of medical services to a growing population of approximately 230,000. The Hospital has 305 beds and is one of the main referral hospital for Central QLD. It has 4 operating theatres and 2 procedure rooms alongside a separate physician-run ICU/HDU. It offers services across specialties such as Coronary Care, Radiation Oncology, Anaesthetics, Maternity and Paediatrics. Pathology, Radiology and Pharmacy services are also located on site. The modern, 24 hour Emergency Department sees approximately 48,000 presentations per annum, with a total of 38,991 patients admitted to the Hospital for medical services.

The Location
Situated half way between Brisbane and Townsville, this town is a short drive to the pristine beaches and national parklands of Queensland. The town has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and offers plenty of activities to keep you and your family entertained; including museums, botanical gardens, a crocodile farm and a local zoo. The beach is perfect for snorkelling, scuba diving and boating. Locally there are four shopping centres with plenty of alfresco dining options for you to enjoy the tropical climate. The region is well served by both private and public schools, including several for boarders, alongside being easily accessible via all modes of transport.

Essential Criteria
The successful candidate will be a Fellow with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and hold specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia
