This is an opportunity for a suitably experienced and motivated Intensivist to take on an exciting position within the ICU of Bundaberg Hospital.
The Consultant will ensure excellent standards of care are maintained through daily review of patients and critical opinion. You will have excellent communication skills as you liaise with other departments and specialists within the hospital ensuring comprehensive care plans are made and delivered.
You will be available to participate in both an on call and overtime roster as needed. Additionally, this is an opportune chance to showcase your leadership skills as the role may evolve to hold responsibility for junior medical officers in the future.
In recent years Bundaberg Hospital has undergone major redevelopment in excess of $50 million. The redevelopment has delivered new beds, improved services in the rehabilitation unit, as well as a new emergency department, maternity unit and special care nursery.
Bundaberg Hospital has a combined intensive care, coronary care and high dependency unit. The ICU is a level 4 as per the Clinical Services Capability Framework which equates to a Level 2 as per the College of Intensive Care Medicine guidelines. It sits on the 1st floor of the Bundaberg Hospital with 8 beds.
There is the capacity to invasively ventilate and provide multi-system support to three critical patients concurrently with three high dependency patients. The hospital has an established relationship with tertiary facilities to support teleconference management/review of selected patients.
The Bundaberg and Coral Coast region is located approximately 400 kilometres north of Brisbane. The area lays claim to the internationally renowned Southern Great Barrier Reef. The regional offers a superb lifestyle set in a healthy family environment.

To be successful in applying for this position you must hold Fellowship of the College of Intensive Care Medicine (CICM) and hold current registration with AHPRA.
