Wavelength is seeking a Staff Specialist - General Surgeon to take on a permanent, full time position located in Tasmania. This role will suit a highly skilled and experienced general surgeon with a passion to improve healthcare services in the local community. You will perform acute, sub-acute and day surgery procedures as you play a key role in further developing a sustainable health care model within the service. You will showcase your leadership skills as you will be responsible for the supervision and teaching of junior medical staff alongside students of the local university, with the opportunity for academic appointment available via negotiation with the university.
This health service accommodates a population of approximately 116,000 across two metropolitan hospitals located approximately 50km apart. The health service is a major clinical teaching and research centre with close ties to the University of Tasmania and is committed to the development of all medical staff. The hospital is fitted with a modern 24 hour Emergency department and offers services such as Obstetrics, Paediatrics, General Medicine, Rehabilitation and Intensive Care Services. Allied Health services are also located on site inclusive of medical imaging, pathology and pharmacy.
