The Position
A newly created full time position for a Specialist Haematologist to join a collegiate team of 7 Haematologists, including a laboratory Haematopathologist, in providing high-quality clinical care to inpatients and outpatients across the health service. This role has been created with the view of time being spent between haemostasis-thrombosis and the laboratory, preferably a 50/50 split.

The Haematology service is part of the Regional Cancer Centre, incorporating a full mix of Haematology, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology and Palliative Care services. The principal focus of the service is high-quality patient care with particular emphasis on multidisciplinary patient management. The Haematology Department provide inpatient, outpatient and laboratory services to both local and regional populations. Services provided include haematologic malignancies (including acute leukaemia, high-grade lymphoma and autologous transplantation), general and obstetric haematology, and haemostasis-thrombosis and laboratory haematology. Laboratory services include flow cytometry and cytogenetics. The service also runs an active clinical trials programme and will support you to be actively involved in research. 

You will be supported by 4 Haematology Registrars and work in collaboration with 2 Nurse Specialists, 6 Medical Oncologists, 5 Radiation Oncologists and an on-site Transfusion Medicine Specialist.

The Hospital
This modern regional hospital has over 600 beds and provides local services for a population of 360,000 and tertiary services for a region of 750,000. The centre is accredited by the RACP as a level 3 hospital. The hospital has an academic division of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Science, University of Auckland on site, along with a well-equipped clinical school which acts as a teaching and training centre for undergraduates and postgraduate medical and allied health science students. This hospital is a full-service facility offering specialised medical care, and the full complement of emergency services. The hospital is the main trauma facility for the area, and close connection to road and air transport allow patient-hospital transport in less than an hour from any place in the region.

Essential Criteria
To be eligible for this role, you must be a clinical and laboratory haematologist with FRACP and FRCPA or FRCP and FRCPath with CCT. Unless you are a native English speaker you must also meet the English language proficiency requirements.
