== The Position == An opportunity exists for a motivated General Pathologist to join the Pathology Department in this growing regional health service. This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to help lead a publicly owned regional pathology service. The laboratory consists of 62 FTE, which includes 2 FTE Pathologists (one Anatomical Pathologist),  25 FTE Medical Scientists, an Operations Manager, Collection, Administration and Courier staff.  The laboratory is 24/7 and encompasses Histopathology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Haematology and Immunohematology. The General Pathologist will also be responsible for supervision of a local branch laboratory. The Pathology Department supports a busy hospital as well as many collection centres in the region at various hospitals and medical centres. The Health Service Servicing an immediate population of 107,000, this health service is the main referral service for its region.  Services include a 24 hour Emergency department, Surgery, Medical Services, Women?s and Children?s Services, Rehabilitation and Palliative care, Mental Health, Outpatients, and community-based health programs. As an ageing population, currently around 40% of acute services are provided to those aged 65 and over. This is an exciting time to join this service as it moves towards being one of the largest regional health services just outside Melbourne.  This historical 110-bed hospital provides health services to a population of roughly 40,000 people living in the immediate area and approximately 6,000 people residing in the surrounding areas.  The Emergency Department sees nearly 16,000 presentations annually, 3,000 of which are presented acutely.  In addition to its emergency services, the facility provides 9,000 outpatient services and has 6,500 general admissions annually.  The hospital is also considered a teaching hospital, allowing for its Specialist staff the opportunity to advise undergraduate medical students.  A recent $800,000 refurbish of the hospital?s emergency department has allowed for three new patient care areas.  The hospital is also considered to be a teaching hospital. == The Location == Located a leisurely two hour drive from Melbourne, you'll be living in a city with all the facilities you'd expect from a fast-growing area.
