== The Position == Wavelength is currently recruiting a full time Staff Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology for our client in tropical North Australia. You will provide care to ambulatory patients and inpatients, as well as recommending on the management of these patients to your colleagues. Part of your role will be conducting regular ward rounds, outpatient sessions and operating theatre sessions. This is an excellent chance for you to display your expertise by participating in continuous medical education including both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervising trainees. You will partake on a roster basis in routine and emergency after hours? care. This will include a consultancy service to colleagues and junior medical staff. The Hospital Being recognised as Australia?s National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre, this 363-bed hospital offers care to a 500,000-square kilometre catchment area. This tertiary referral centre provides healthcare to areas of inaccessible land and the more remote areas, this is where 70% of the indigenous mothers are from and they make up a third of the 2,200 babies that are delivered every year. In the Emergency Department there are 60,000 annual presentations with 28% of them being admitted and over 100,000 outpatient services performed. The dedicated team at this facility reflect the multicultural nature of Australia and really do make a difference to the community by providing care to Aboriginal health, remote health, and acute care.  == The Location == With a population of 125,000 people and more than 60 different nationalities, this city is the perfect location for work or play. Life in this northern Australian city offers the ideal base for exploring the regions unique surroundings.  The average temperate barely changes throughout the year and you will get the chance to experience the wet and dry seasons. During the dry season you will have the chance to attend weekly sunset markets where you can try out the produce on offer from 60 food stalls. This city has a range of public and private schools to choose from, as well as a University. House prices are higher than could be expected however they are considerable more affordable that some of the bigger cities throughout Australia. == Essential Criteria == The applicant must hold a FRANZCOG with current registration as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia (MBA) and have excellent verbal and written communication skills with clinical experience in the speciality and the ability to support undergraduate and post graduate training program across the state.
