== The Position == This is a multi-faceted role in which the Senior Staff Specialist / Staff Specialist will assist the Director of Medicine in all aspects of clinical and managerial duties, thus ensuring a cohesive continuum of care for patients.  In this dynamic role, you will be expected to provide evidence-based clinical care and contribute to the education and supervision of registrars and junior medical staff.  Additionally, you are expected to foster cross-collaboration between area hospitals and relevant community groups, participate in seminars and tutorials to clinical staff, and participate in the hospital?s General Medicine Outreach Program.     The Hospital The hospital has 230 beds and services an immediate and surrounding area population of roughly 200,000 people. As the regional referral centre for emergency services, the facility sees an approximate 45,000 ED presentations per year and a total of 22,000 admissions. Construction of a $155 million seven storey ward block was completed in May 2015 and a new helipad built on top will enable better transport of trauma patients. Works are also underway on the expansion of the Intensive Care Unit that will be housed within the new seven storey ward block.   == The Location == The post is in an area between Brisbane and Townsville and is only a short drive to the pristine beaches and national parklands of Queensland. The town has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and offers plenty of activities to keep you and your family entertained. The beach is perfect for snorkelling, scuba diving and boating. The region is well served by both private and public schools, including several for boarders. The City Centre is easily accessible, providing a variety of shops large and small. The architecture is a mix of colonial through to modern.
