As the Senior Staff Specialist or Staff Specialist (Haematology), you will be expected to deliver quality care to patients, as well as provide departmental leadership to a multidisciplinary team. Your clinical responsibilities would entail the on-call provision of patient care, communicating with other units and referring hospitals, and maintaining appropriate records and confidentiality. In this role, you would also be responsible for coordinating and facilitating the education and research of medical students, junior medical officers, principal house officers, registrars and senior medical staff. Those involved with teaching are eligible to apply for an academic title with the affiliated University.
This medium-sized 320+ bed hospital provides public services to a population of 200,000. In conjunction with the District, it provides an integrated network of acute, mental health, aged care, community and allied health inpatient and outpatient services. There are 79 non-consultant hospital doctors and approximately 30 staff specialists across the various specialties. In addition, there are approximately 40 visiting specialists, who provide services to this hospital. The hospital itself is large enough to offer a varied and full clinical workload while maintaining the friendliness and atmosphere of a smaller hospital. Additionally, it is an accredited teaching hospital.
