== The Position == As a motivated Senior Resident Medical officer with a minimum of 3 years post graduate experience, you will be confident in your ability to assist various teams throughout the hospital whilst receiving the support from more senior staff and specialists. Day-to-day, you will be responsible for the medical care of patients in the emergency department and occasionally in other departments as well. You will have the ability to manage a busy work load and will be able to maintain high levels of clinical care as well as offer administrative support. You will have the opportunity to build knowledge and skills of varied regional presentations. The Hospital This hospital is the major regional health provider for its region and is one of the most attractive in rural South Australia. In December 2014 work completed on a $27 million redevelopment meaning the hospital now comprises of approximately 80 public beds and is co-located with a 20 bed private hospital. It provides extensive services including general medicine, general, orthopaedics, ENT, ophthalmic, and gynaecological surgery and obstetrics in addition to an emergency department and a high dependency unit. == The Location == This thriving city is located mid-way between Adelaide and Melbourne, just within the border of South Australia. The streets and houses are built around the slopes of an extinct volcano 27 km from the sea, with the city climbing almost to the lip of the famous Blue Lake, and the outskirts extending on to the rich volcanic soil of the surrounding plain. The city itself boasts beautiful parks and gardens, caves and sinkholes. There is an interesting mix of galleries, museums and local markets with plenty of cafes and restaurants to cater for everyone?s tastes. The city has affordable housing and a high-quality selection of primary and secondary government and non-government schools. == Essential Criteria == With AHPRA registration, you will have a minimum of three years postgraduate experience in Australia and will have the ability to work independently. At this stage the hospital cannot support international medical graduates.
