The main acute hospital is a 160 bed accredited teaching hospital with an attached rural clinical school and a 70 bed private facility. The second acute hospital is located 60kms away and is a 130 bed community hospital. The health service provides high-quality health care and specialist services to a combined catchment area of 100,000 people.
The two hospitals both have very busy emergency departments, obstetric and gynaecology services. Paediatrics is primarily located at one site with outpatient services at both sites. There is general surgery and anaesthetics at both hospitals. There are extensive outpatient services for a range of subspecialty services many of which are provided by visiting specialists.
The health service has a great sense of community and camaraderie, with strong social and professional networks. They pride themselves on valuing staff and strive to create a positive and friendly working environment.
