The Position
As a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology your primary duties will revolve around the safe and effective treatment of patients. This will include patients within the inpatient service and also privately referred outpatient consultancy service and antenatal clinics (5 clinic sessions per week, 2 x antenatal and 3 x privately referred clinics). To be successful in this position you must be competent in pregnancy related emergencies including but not limited to; pre-eclampsia, maternal antibodies complications, mild haemorrhage, premature labour, ruptured membranes, significant foetal distress, tears and caesareans. You will be exposed to elective and emergency theatre lists and acute on-call work. If you have an interest in laparoscopic surgery this will be supported by the hospital.
As an accredited teaching site you will also be required to supervise 3 accredited and 1 unaccredited O&G registrars. Offering protected teaching time and a specific program for exam candidates, this is a brilliant chance to follow your passion for research and education.
The Hospital
Having recently undergone a $220 million redevelopment project this hospital is bound for success. In 2015 the hospital opened 348 treatment spaces; a Level 4 Obstetric Unit with 1000 births per year; a Level 3 nursery that provides step-down care; an 8 theatre operating complex (5 in current operation); and a newly opened Ambulatory Care Centre.
Options for pregnancy care includes midwives clinics, postnatal home visiting program, child birth/parenting classes and high risk pregnancy clinics. There is also oncology care including radiation and medical oncology, and haematology services. You will be joining a forward thinking friendly team of 5 O&G specialists working under the experienced Clinical Director.

Essential Criteria
Applicants must be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and hold FRANZCOG.
