Wavelength is seeking a Non-Interventionalist Cardiologist to join a public hospital in regional QLD. This is an exciting opportunity to provide high level quality clinical services to the department of Cardiac Services. You will support and encourage the education of medical staff and students, allied health professional, interested community groups and nursing staff. You will utilise your high level of clinical knowledge, proficiency, skills and experience in echocardiography; transoesophageal echo’s; stress echo’s; dobutamines and exercise tests and high level quality of assessment of non-invasive tests and procedures. Permanent Pacemaker Placement skills and follow-up is an advantage.
As a Non-Interventional Cardiologist, you will share the on call for General Cardiology with other Consultants 1-2 nights per week. There will be a rostered weekend on call 1 in 5 weeks (more when other Consultants are on leave). The hours are from Friday 1730pm; Saturday to Sunday from 0800am ward rounds; Monday to Friday – CCU Consultant on call, taking ward rounds for the week with your Junior team. You will be rostered to work 80hrs per fortnight – 10hr shifts per day.
There are approximately 5 cardiac clinics per fortnight (allocated with a Registrar where possible).
This hospital is the main referral facility for the district which serves a population of approximately 182,000 people. The hospital has been redeveloped at a cost of over $400 million, increasing capacity to over 250 beds. It is a digital hospital, equipped with leading technology to assist you in providing the highest level of quality care and comfort to patients. The cardiac services are currently staffed with 3 Interventional Cardiologists including the Clinical Director, 1 EPP/Consultant Cardiologist, Junior team consists of – 5 x REGs (1 x Advanced Trainee) – 5 x JHOs/SHOs – 2 x Interns (with accreditation for 4).
