As a Career Medical Officer in Geriatrics, you will attend ward rounds, follow-up patient investigation and triage patients from ED that meet criteria for EDMAU admission. You will provide guidance to JMOs in their duties and in turn receive support from Consultant staff in this busy service. When the team is fully staffed you will generally work day shifts 0800-1830, with a week-on/week-off pattern available, including weekend shifts. You will be required to rotate to another hospital at times (one term per year although not necessarily all in one block) which is an easy 20-minute commute away.
With the hospital currently undergoing major redevelopment there is an opportunity to be involved, along with the opportunity to access training and education or to be involved in teaching with a University campus close by.
You will be joining a major tertiary referral hospital dedicated to providing world-class clinical care, research and innovation. The hospital provides high-level inpatient services, generally with the capacity to manage high complexity patients requiring specialist care, such as emergency, critical care, acute medicine, planned and emergency surgery, maternity, neonatal, paediatric medicine and minor surgery, mental health, aged care and rehabilitation services, drug and alcohol and a broad range of specialist outpatient clinics and services.
Your new home will be encompassed by nature, with beautiful lookouts on your doorstep. This is a great location to raise a family with a wonderful sense of caring in the community and a more relaxed pace of life, without being too far from the bustling city. You will enjoy a variety of activities in your time-off, from exploring the nearby bushwalking trails, eucalyptus forests and waterfalls, to indulging in the many shopping and entertainment venues. This is a great alternative to living in Sydney, with more affordable housing and living costs, or there is also the option to live inner city and commute if preferred.
You will hold current registration or be eligible for registration with AHPRA with experience from a country with a comparable health care system (NZ, UK, Ireland, Canada or USA). You will be PGY4+ in your level of experience. Prior experience in Geriatrics is not essential but some experience in aged care is required.
