In this role you will be working alongside a team of 6 full-time physicians to provide high-quality care to patients admitted to the hospital. Your key responsibilities will be the assessment, investigation and treatment of patients under your care. You will be required to commit to an on-call frequency of 1 in 6 and you will conduct 3 outpatient clinics per week. You will be joining a team that enjoys work/life balance due to the oncall frequency, regularly scheduled off the ward time, clinical challenges and a big focus on teamwork.
You will be supported by 4 House Officers and you will provide educational and clinical support to the junior medical staff, giving you the opportunity to share your knowledge, skills and experience. Any sub-specialty may be accommodated however due to the size of the hospital, this is a true generalist role and majority of your time will be spent in General Medicine.
The hospital provides a range of inpatient, outpatient and community secondary services to the region. Medical services include general medicine with resident sub-specialty interests in gastroenterology, rheumatology and endocrinology. The medical ward has 24 beds and visiting specialist clinics are also provided in neurology, cardiology, renal medicine and dermatology.
Surgical services include both elective services and a 24-hour district trauma service supported by 24-hour specialist cover in general surgery, orthopaedics and gynaecology. Ophthalmology, ORL/ENT, oral and dental surgery also is provided, as are visiting oncology services and mental health and addiction services. Annually the hospital sees 71,000 outpatient attendances & 16,000 emergency department attendances.
