The successful applicant will provide assessments, treatments and clinical care to individuals referred to the team in collaboration with other team members. This will include the application of a wide range of skills and interventions. You will be expected to exercise a high level of individual responsibility but are accountable to the Clinical Director – Mental Health Services and the relevant Team Leader within the specified unit for all aspects of performance.
This major referral hospital provides general and specialist health services to a population of about 250,000 people. The Emergency Department itself receives on average 45,000 cases a year with all types of patient presentations including major trauma and 20% paediatric cases. As it is an accredited teaching hospital there is a strong focus on teaching and research and an opportunity to be involved with both.
The Mental Health Service has a 20 bed Inpatient Unit of which 3 High Dependency beds and extensive community based services catering for the population. The service is supported by six Staff Psychiatrists including two part time consultants and the incumbent director, five Registrars and a Career Medical Officer.
