The Opportunity
In this role, you will be covering an 8-bed inpatient facility, working alongside 2 other Consultant Psychiatrists with Registrar and RMO Support. You will be expected to take part in the general on-call roster which is approximately one night per fortnight and a weekend day every month. This is an exciting role which offers exciting possibilities to build your own future within the wider service. This position requires a dynamic, enthusiastic psychiatrist with a passion for working collaboratively. Continuing professional development and development of special interests are encouraged.
 
The Hospital
Located in the Northern Rivers region of NSW, this major public teaching hospital is currently undertaking a $320 million redevelopment in order to meet growing demands of the region. The hospital services a population catchment of 180,000 offering services such as Maternity, Paediatric, Coronary Care, Mental health, Intensive Care and also High Dependency Care. The mental health services include a 24-bed acute adult Inpatient Unit, an 8-bed Child and Adolescent Inpatient Unit, as well as an Older Adult Unit, Consultation Liaison services and Community teams.

Essential Criteria
Australia/NZMust hold FRANZCP and be eligible for Specialist registration with AHPRA
UK/IrelandMust hold MRCPsych / FRCPsych plus UK Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) and have been practicing as a Consultant for 3 years or more
USAMust hold Certificate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and have been practicing as a Consultant for 3 years or more.
CanadaMust hold Fellowship in Psychiatry or Certificate in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and have been practicing as a Consultant for 3 years or more.
 
Other qualifications can of course be assessed on a case-by-case basis. For those unable to work at Consultant level, there are multiple opportunities to take advantage of at Senior Medical Officer and Registrar level.
