Get your foot in the door with a world-class facility investing $1 billion in expansion and upgrades
- Opportunities for further development
- Supportive and nurturing environment
- Multiple roles available with this growing health service
As a Senior Resident Medical Officer in Emergency Medicine you will join a supportive department with good Consultant cover (20 FTE Staff Specialist) over day and afternoon shifts. During nightshifts there will not be an expectation for you to work as the in-charge doctor, instead there will always be Consultant cover on call and senior registrar support on the floor. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a health service that can support you throughout your medical career, offering long contracts and facilitating all training in one site should you wish to progress with ACEM training. Non-clinical terms are also available in Paediatrics, O&G, Psychiatry, Anaesthesia and ICU.
You will be joining a major tertiary referral hospital dedicated to providing world-class clinical care, research and innovation. Currently undergoing significant redevelopment, $1 billion has been committed to the expansion and upgrade of services along with a multi-storey car park to support this growth. The hospital provides high-level inpatient services, generally with the capacity to manage high complexity patients requiring specialist care, such as emergency, critical care, acute medicine, planned and emergency surgery, maternity, neonatal, paediatric medicine and minor surgery, mental health, aged care and rehabilitation services, drug and alcohol and a broad range of specialist outpatient clinics and services.
The Emergency Department itself sees 200-210 presentations per day (70,000+ per annum) with a high paediatric case load (20-30%) with a designated paediatric area. It is a regional trauma centre but all major trauma is sent to the city based hospitals. Accredited with ACEM and ACCRM, this department offers protected teaching time as part of normal hours (once per month for SRMOs).
Your new home will be encompassed by nature, with beautiful lookouts on your doorstep plus a wonderful sense of caring in the community. You will enjoy a variety of activities in your time-off, from exploring the nearby bushwalking trails, eucalyptus forests and waterfalls, to indulging in the many shopping and entertainment venues, all with the bustling city in easy access. This is a great alternative to living in inner Sydney, with more affordable housing and living costs, or there is also the option to live inner city and commute if preferred.
You will hold current registration, or be eligible to apply for registration with the Australian Medical Board (AHPRA) with experience from a country with a comparable healthcare system such as New Zealand, Ireland, the UK, Canada or USA.
