== The Position == As an Emergency Medicine Senior Medical Officer / Staff Specialist you will join a health service where you can obtain real hands on experience. With the ability to provide high quality and efficient clinical care to patients, you will find yourself exposed to trauma and retrieval cases, paediatric cases and other Category 1-3 cases. You will provide support to junior staff and students within the department, as you help to initiate, maintain and manage patient care. With 5 weeks of annual leave being supported, you will also receive a motor vehicle allowance & accommodation, as well as a generous salary. In regard to on-call this usually works out to be 3 nights every fortnight. The Hospital This 70 bed hospital is serving a growing population leading to an increase in workforce and new infrastructure. The hospital provides a range of clinical services, including general medicine, surgery, maternity, paediatrics, emergency services, outpatients, medical imaging, pathology and pharmacy. The Emergency department itself receives around 28,000 presentations per year including 30% paediatric cases. It is supported by a Clinical Director and FACEMS as well as other SMO?S and more junior staff. == The Location == With a sub-tropical climate offering year-round sunshine, this premier port city is located between Brisbane and Townsville, on the inlet of the Coral Sea. It maintains a relaxed and laid-back charm whilst also being a thriving hub of activity, including a whole range of outdoor activities throughout the year. Traveling across the sea you can enjoy snorkelling and diving on the vibrant coral reef, whilst inland you can enjoy bush walking in the great Australian Outback. You can also enjoy the magnificent views of the natural, deep water harbour and numerous islands situated off the coast from the tops of the undulating hills. == Essential Criteria == For this role you must have AHPRA registration and the ability to confidently work within the department whilst offering support to more junior staff. Those with an interest in ACCRM training would also be welcomed to apply.
