This Emergency Medicine RMO opportunity will see you based primarily within a busy trauma centre where the team are supportive and sociable. Seeing around 95,000 presentations per year you will gain exposure to a full range of cases including adult, paediatric and mental health. For a couple of months each year you will be based at a quieter centre where the acuity is lower and ambulance traffic is less.
With consultant support during day time and evening shifts, they are also available on call over night shifts. Registrar support is also available on nightshifts as you would alongside each other.
Split across 2 hospitals, you will primarily be based at one of the only two trauma centres for the state. As it is fully accredited with the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine for training there could be the opportunity for future career progression. The second hospital you will be based at is a regional centre which sees around 47,000 presentations per year. Within your 12-month contract you would spend one 3 month term within this quieter hospital.
This city has a fabulous atmosphere thanks to the vibrant community, arts scene and yearly comedy fringe festival. It has something for everyone including top restaurants and cafes as well as shops, a fun nightlife scene and shops and boutiques like you would expect from a major city. What’s more it has easy access to the beach, parklands, the river or the beautiful wineries in the surrounding hills. With the location of the main campus being so close to the popular beach area you could easily base yourself at the seaside and commute for 20 minutes.
With affordable housing, it maintains a small town, friendly feel but with an international and domestic airport it offers easy access to other areas.
With the availability to commence in February 2018, this opportunity is well suited to those with AHPRA registration or experience from a comparable health care system.
