As a motivated Emergency Medicine Registrar you will join a thriving department where you will put in to action your sound emergency medicine experience whilst also being able to continue with your training. As a team player, you will work cohesively with colleagues to provide excellent patient care and contribute to the departments’ ever-growing success.
Working under the guidance of Staff Specialists, you will excel in an increasingly busy environment whilst continuing to develop your medical knowledge and expertise. You will carry out the initial assessment of all attending patients, communicate the relevant information with the appropriate member of staff and help to coordinate, diagnose and manage further care. You will have exposure to a whole range of presentations and you will be comfortable with both adult and paediatric cases.

As for the Emergency Department itself, it has seen strong growth in recent years with patient attendances now around 57,000 per year. With an increase in ATS Category 2 and 3 patients there is now a higher admission rate of around 21%. As for Paediatric cases, this makes up around 18% of all presentations. Accredited with the ACEM for 12 months of advanced training, there are also a number of Emergency Department certificate and diploma candidates working within the health service.

As a provisional or advanced trainee of ACEM you must hold AHPRA General Registration or be eligible to apply for registration with experience from a comparable health care system.
