== The Position == As an Emergency Medicine Registrar you will support the clinical care of patients attending the Emergency Department via planning, supervising and arranging appropriate clinical investigations. You will also liaise with and maintain good communications with all areas and disciplines within the health service, along with assisting with the supervision of day to day tasks undertaken by junior doctors. You will receive support from the Director, Staff Specialists and Senior Medical Officers as you gain further exposure and knowledge of varied medical presentations. You will work hard to ensure the highest standards of clinical care are met as you work cohesively with the multidisciplinary team. The Hospital The hospital has 230 beds and services an immediate and surrounding area population of roughly 250,000 people. As the regional referral centre for emergency services, the facility sees an approximate 45,000 ED presentations per year and sees a total of 22,000 admissions with a great variety of clinical presentations. Construction of a $155 million seven storey ward block was completed in May 2015 and a new helipad built on top will enable better transport of trauma patients. Works are also underway on the expansion of the Intensive Care Unit that will be housed within the new seven storey ward block. == The Location == Halfway between Brisbane and Townsville this town is only a short drive to the pristine beaches and national parklands of Queensland. The beach is perfect for snorkelling, scuba diving and boating whilst the town offers restaurants, bars and various art and music events. == Essential Criteria == To be eligible you must have general registration with AHPRA or be eligible for registration having had 12 months recent Emergency Medicine experience in a country with comparable healthcare to Australia. You will have a keen interest in developing your knowledge as you gain further exposure to emergency presentations.
