Join a well run department that focuses on training and education
- Opportunity to experience Trauma on a nearly daily basis
- Good doctor and nurse to patient ratio
- Location considered a hidden gem with easy access to other areas of NSW
As an Emergency Medicine Provisional Registrar you will find yourself joining a well-run department supported by Consultants, other trainees, more junior staff and ED nurses alike. With presentations varying from trauma, GP, run-of-the-line minors, paediatric and majors, there is the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills. What’s more, with 43,000 presentations being seen annually on average you will find yourself busy enough to experience the variety and develop your skills but quiet enough for the consultants to push for evidence-based practise to reflect the forefront of medical practise.
Renowned for its great teaching and time spent on exam preparation, this department is accredited for training at Provisional and Advanced Trainee level meaning there is opportunity for future career progression.
This regional hospital offers services including General Medicine, Cancer care, Mental health and Maternity services. With the Emergency Medicine department, having recently been rebuilt the department is spacious and well equipped and patients range from rich Australians owning farmlands and polo fields to some of the poorest and more vulnerable populations.
With 18 major beds there is also a large 3 bed resus area, 2 isolation rooms and 2 Psych rooms as well as a short-stay unit.
Life in this region will allow you to gain a whole new experience to the usual city life. Aside with socialising and building strong friendships with your fellow ED colleagues, time off can be spent enjoying music, playing sports, going camping, exploring the nearby scenery and making the most of all the high-quality brunch spots. With bush walks, national parks, an Olympic size pool, yoga clubs and many running groups, keeping fit in this town is easy. What’s more, although it is based in an inland location, getting out to explore different areas of NSW is easy.
With AHPRA registration or eligibility for registration and experience from a comparable health care system, you will have prior experience in Emergency Medicine and an interest in developing your skills across such a wide variety of presentations.
