The Position

Following recent changes to this health service, they are seeking a great clinical leader to continue to build a strong and cohesive Emergency team. Comprehensive workforce planning has taken place including service demand modelling, understanding supervision and training requirements as well as roster modelling and recruitment capability. This hospital's new approach has been designed to support a fair and equitable roster for all medical staff and provides excellent support for junior staff.

The Hospital

This sub-regional health service provides a range of services (public, private and not for profit) for a population of approximately 42,000. You will be joining one of its two public hospitals in an area characterised by its strong agricultural, timber, aviation and tourism sectors. The Emergency Department itself treats approximately 17,000 patients each year. Generally, beds are readily available for admission as required. There are 2 resuscitation bays, 4 cubicles, 3 treatment rooms and 2 consultation rooms. A mobile telehealth platform provides 24/7 access to the Victorian Stroke Team and can be used for other telehealth purposes.

The Location

Considerable amounts have been spent in recent years to upgrade the town, making it a desirable weekend and holiday destination. It also makes a fantastic base, located only 2.5 hours from Melbourne and serves as an easy access point for two major attractions, the nearby lakes and beaches. The region offers a strong education sector, with a range of primary and secondary schools including private options.

Essential Criteria

You must hold current registration or be eligible for registration with the Australian Medical Board (AHPRA) with experience from a country with a comparable healthcare system (New Zealand, the UK, Ireland, Canada or USA). You will hold Fellowship or a Diploma in Emergency Medicine, ACRRM Generalist Emergency Medicine or equivalent capability with extensive experience in Emergency Medicine.
