As a Consultant in Emergency Medicine, you will provide leadership to the multi-disciplinary team to provide comprehensive emergency services to patients. You will promote patient quality and safety within the Emergency Department and collaborate with the Director of Medical Services in providing leadership, management, training, supervision and education to junior staff.

This 60-bed regional hospital is the only centre with specialist level care in an area of approximately 470,000 square kilometres. The hospital provides specialist support for general medicine, general surgery, orthopaedics, paediatrics and obstetrics, gynaecology, and receives support from a community mental health team. Critically unwell patients are managed in the ED and those requiring tertiary level care are transferred by the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
The Emergency Department itself has 8 bays (including 2 resuscitation bays), 3 consultation rooms, a procedure room and a 4-bed short-stay unit. You will see a wide range of cases from minor injuries and illnesses to major trauma and critical care, with a caseload 25% paediatrics and 30% Indigenous patients.
Based in a small town on the coast you will enjoy close access to a variety of beautiful beaches, excellent for keen surfers or kiteboarders. Additionally, there are numerous national parks and wilderness areas nearby to explore in your time off. You will be a quick flight or 5-hour drive from Perth. This is a fantastic opportunity to base yourself in a smaller community where you will still find trendy cafes, shops and restaurants in the city centre, while being surrounded by natural beauty.
To be eligible for this role you must hold Fellowship with the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine as well as AHPRA Specialist registration. Alternatively, you will be eligible for registration with AHPRA and have experience from a comparable health care country.
