As an Emergency Medicine Consultant you will be able to manage your own patients whilst also using your prior experience and knowledge to bring the best for the future of the department. You will offer supervision and training to registrars, junior medical officers and students and you will lead by quality example. With a positive and dedicated outlook, and you will help provide the highest quality of clinical care to all patients presenting to the department. You will join a cohesive and supportive team consisting of Specialists, Senior Medical officers, registrars and juniors.
The hospital has 230 beds and services an immediate and surrounding area population of roughly 250,000 people. As the regional referral centre for emergency services, the facility sees an approximate 45,000 ED presentations per year and sees a total of 22,000 admissions with a great variety of clinical presentations. Construction of a $155 million seven storey ward block was completed in May 2015 and a new helipad built on top will enable better transport of trauma patients. Works are also underway on the expansion of the Intensive Care Unit that will be housed within the new seven storey ward block.
Halfway between Brisbane and Townsville this town is only a short drive to the pristine beaches and national parklands of Queensland. The architecture is a mix of colonial through to modern and homes in the suburbs south of the river are predominantly older Queensland architectural styles whilst the northern suburbs contain most of the modern homes.
To be eligible you must have Specialist registration with AHPRA or be eligible for registration having gained Emergency Medicine fellowship in a country with comparable healthcare to Australia. You will use your prior experience to benefit both patients and the team.
