Working alongside the Director, Staff Specialists and other Career Medical Officers you will help to ensure the Emergency Department runs to the highest of standards. With an average of 70 presentations per day, you will support the clinical care of patients via planning, supervising and arranging appropriate clinical investigations. You will also liaise with and maintain good communication with all areas and disciplines within the health service, along with assisting with the supervision of day to day tasks undertaken by junior doctors. Roles offer excellent remuneration packages (depending on experience) including relocation assistance, continuing professional development and superannuation allowance. The Hospital This 60 bed hospital provides general and specialist services to a population of approximately 116,000 people.  The 24 hour Emergency Department sees around 26,000 presentations each year, with an average of 70 patients being seen per day. The admission rate is 15% of which half are short stay admission and transfers to other higher facilities.   The hospital also offers inpatient services, 23 hours general and orthopedic surgery and a vast array of outpatient services. It is a hospital owned and funded by the Australian Government and with this agreement in place it has undergone major refurbishment, increased its levels of staffing plus purchased new equipment. == The Location == Tasmania is known as a place of wild and beautiful landscapes and this town is no different. As for housing, options are affordable and varied including town houses or country homes and the education system is of a high quality with access to a range of public and private schools. == Essential Criteria == Along with the ACEM certificate, diploma or equivalent you will have AHPRA General Registration or be eligible for registration. If you do not currently have the ACEM certificate, you will be willing to work towards it. You will have a solid understanding of emergency medicine with experience in Australia or from a country with a comparable health care system.
