An excellent opportunity exists to join one of the most contemporary regional health services in Australia as a Director Medical Services (DMS). Located only three-hour's drive from Sydney in New South Wales, the hospital includes a refurbished Emergency Department; Anaesthetics Department and Intensive Care Unit.
The successful candidate will report to the General Manager of the hospital with a professional reporting line to the Executive Director of Medical Services of the Local Health District. The DMS will be responsible for clinical governance and the overall safe, effective, and efficient delivery of medical services at this facility.
This is a full time, permanent position that will suit a proactive and visible clinical leader with a focus on challenge resolution. Someone with a high level of EQ and the ability to influence change, both managing up and managing across a diverse and highly-skilled set of clinicians will be best suited for success.
Leadership responsibilities will include a patient safety and quality improvement program as well as initiatives to improve consistency of delivery of services across all specialties. The hospital’s clinical team is a vibrant multidisciplinary workforce with a mix of junior and senior medical staff. The successful candidate will also be expected to advocate for the hospital within the local health district and to contribute to district-wide planning and strategy.
Serving a catchment population of over 40,000 with 450 staff, this facility is well-established and highly regarded amongst the community. With over 100 beds, the facility offers a wide range of services to the region including Intensive care, Coronary care, Oncology, Psychiatric and Rehabilitation Units. Obstetric and Paediatric services are also offered with over 360 births being attended to at the facility in the past year. The modern 24 hour Emergency Department has over 25,000 presentations annually with a 35% admission rate.

To be eligible to apply, you must be currently registered, or eligible for specialist registration, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. Candidates with Fellowship with any of the specialist Australasian medical colleges combined with Medical Administration experience will be considered.
