== The Position == As Director Medical Services (DMS), you will take a central role in strategically leading this rural health service operationally and professionally. This strategy will ensure the medical services are high performing and are actively seeking and developing efficiencies and improvements. You will work collaboratively with the EDMS to develop the services in your facility, implementing clinical governance systems and managing medical services at the facilities as the clinical lead. You will be committed to patient safety and improving clinical care to the local communities. Teaching, mentoring and supervising other medical staff will also be a key part of your responsibilities. Using your trauma management, general and emergency medicine skills, you will be undertaking medical practice and providing clinical services at local facilities and by telehealth consultations.  This can be a Part Time or Full Time position pending the successful candidate?s commitments. The Hospital The health service provides healthcare to a vast geographical catchment area of approximately 12,500 people, covering 22% of Queensland. You will be based in Winton supporting the health service partnership with the Royal Flying Doctor Service and the many health care centres, hospitals, visiting services within the body.   == The Location == Situated 180km from Longreach, this town is home to a diverse natural history and spectacular landscapes. Known as ?big sky country?, the town is a picturesque grazing and mining town, popular with tourists who are attracted to its dinosaur activities!   The town hosts various events throughout the year and you will enjoy exploring the region. There are a wide variety of shops and outlet stores, conveniently located in one general area. The town has a State school, Primary School and Kindergarten. The median price of a home is about $120,000 making it a very affordable town in which to live and raise a family.   == Essential Criteria == This leadership opportunity will suit a highly motivated applicant that possesses or is working towards obtaining Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (FRACMA), Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) or Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP).  General Practice experience is required.  Management experience in a rural setting and demonstrated trauma management, general and emergency medicine is desirable.
