== The Position == The Director of Emergency Medicine will provide direct clinical care in the emergency department as well as providing clinical leadership, service improvement, incident management, audit of practice and education to CMO and RMO staff and medical students. As the only FACEM in the department, you will be well supported by a close-knit and experienced team of Senior Career Medical Officers, and developing Senior Residents. The department is not currently accredited for ACEM training purposes presenting you with an opportunity to drive the development and direction of the service. In addition, there is the opportunity for a conjoint University appointment for an interested candidate. To be successful in this role you will be a natural clinical leader, educator and skilled communicator.  You will be motivated, have energy and personal drive, and be open to exploring new models of care and innovative practice. The Hospital A $60 million hospital redevelopment is currently in the construction stage, with completion expected in 2018. It will deliver a new four-storey building adjoining the existing hospital, including a new emergency department, inpatient ward, four operating theatres and a critical care unit. The current facility services a local community of 30,600 and a referral community of 55,200. It has 99 beds with a 22-bed surgical ward. The hospital provides a wide range of services including general medicine, surgery, day surgery, obstetrics, and gynaecology, paediatric, rehabilitation, anaesthetics, intensive care, and emergency. The emergency department sees approx. 13,000 presentations p.a. == The Location == A dynamic, modern, and progressive city and a major regional service centre with an easy-going lifestyle and a strong economy.
