This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably experienced and motivated Intensivist to provide clinical leadership and effective management to the ICU of Bundaberg Hospital.
The Director of ICU will be responsible for leading strategic direction, and overall management of the collaborative multi-disciplinary team of medical staff.
The Director will provide a specialist clinical consultant service to Bundaberg Hospital and clinical expertise in planning intensive care services for the Bundaberg Hospital. You will have the opportunity to grow and develop the existing service.

In recent years Bundaberg Hospital has undergone major redevelopment in excess of $50 million. The redevelopment has delivered new beds, improved services in the rehabilitation unit, as well as a new emergency department, maternity unit and special care nursery.
Bundaberg Hospital has a combined intensive care, coronary care and high dependency unit. The ICU is a level 4 as per the Clinical Services Capability Framework which equates to a Level 2 as per the College of Intensive Care Medicine guidelines. It sits on the 1st floor of the Bundaberg Hospital with 8 beds.
There is the capacity to invasively ventilate and provide multi-system support to three critical patients concurrently with three high dependency patients. The hospital has an established relationship with tertiary facilities to support teleconference management/review of selected patients.
The Bundaberg and Coral Coast region is located approximately 400 kilometres north of Brisbane. The area lays claim to the internationally renowned Southern Great Barrier Reef. The regional offers a superb lifestyle set in a healthy family environment.
Residents can access a range of recreational, cultural and sporting facilities. Bundaberg offers a wide range of events and festivals for you to enjoy, as well as a number of other attractions throughout the year.

To be successful in applying for this position you must hold Fellowship of the College of Intensive Care Medicine (CICM) and hold current registration with AHPRA. Dual fellowship with the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) is desirable. You should have at least 5 years’ experience post Fellowship; and ideally have previous leadership experience.
