A rare opportunity exists for a clinical leader with a passion for patient-focused care to provide strategic development and medical leadership to the Cardiovascular Directorate Auckland District Health Board.   The Director, Cardiovascular Services will provide overall management to a highly-skilled and diverse multi-disciplinary team of health professionals. The Directorate provides national, regional, and local cardiology, cardiothoracic and vascular surgery, and cardiothoracic and vascular intensive care unit services. The Directorate also delivers the national heart and lung transplant service. The Director will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of the Directorate?s strategic and business plans. You will take ownership of the annual operating budget and drive performance against internal and external financial targets and obligations. Clinical risk and governance, developing sustainable models of care, implementing contemporary practices and quality improvement initiatives will be key responsibilities of this role, alongside providing operational direction aligned with the Auckland District Health Board strategic priorities. The structure of == The Position == is negotiable with a minimum 0.7 FTE dedicated to Directorate leadership. The clinical component of the role can be created as desired, and is flexible, up to 0.3 FTE.
